We all can identify with the never ending “to-do” list and for the Turkana women that’s no different. Here are just a few things you might find on her to-do list:
- Gather firewood
- Walk great distances to fetch water
- Build the grass hut that she and her family live in
- BE THE BACKBONE OF THE CHURCH
We have seen a spiritual explosion in the past few years among the Turkana people, and it is driven primarily by women.
Alice Asekon’s Story
Share International has taught us the Word of God since they came to our village. We have learned so much about God and continue grow in Him through our Women’s Fellowship on Thursdays.
One important thing we have learned about is the “Three Circles.” The first circle represents the perfect world, the second is the broken world, and the third represents accepting Jesus. The Coordinator of our Women’s Ministry has also taught us life lessons using the Gospel, such as how to respect our husbands and care for our children. We are sticking to those teachings and becoming more godly women.
The three of us (see photo on right) are now Women’s leaders in the church. Before we knew God, we were ignorant. We focused only on our livestock and what we would eat. We had no idea about God. We are very grateful to Share International for teaching us.
