Make a difference in the lives of our friends in Kenya
by participating in a race in honor of a child in Kenya.
The Rafiki Run ("rafiki" means "friend" in Kiswahili) is an effort to offer runners in the kids' marathon an opportunity to take on the challenge of a race to make a difference in the lives of our friends in Turkanaland in Kenya.
Last year, six children participated and raised almost $5000 for the children in Kenya through running in the Country Music Kids' Marathon. Our goal in 2010 is to double that amount.
This fundraising program for Share International, Inc. helps inspire advocacy for the poor in Kenya and honors the children in our child sponsorship program (called Children of the Kingdom).
Please Note: Although last yearís race of choice was the Country Music City Kidsí Marathon, you can run in ANY race and raise funds in honor of a child in Kenya for your fun run! (And although children were the main participants last year, adults can do this too with any race!)
Second, pick your team. Recruit friends, neighbors and family to pledge money on behalf of a student to help with educational needs. You can ask for money for each mile that you are running in the upcoming race. Fill out the "signup" form below and email this to Emily Huff at shareCOK@gmail.com, coordinator of Children of the Kingdom, to receive a picture of the child you will be honoring by your participation. You can attach this picture to your race number during your race.
Third, run run run! Most of all, Have FUN! Run knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of children in need of education and support in Kenya.
