SI MESSIAH GOSPEL MINISTRY

The Messiah Gospel Ministry is SI’s outreach arm in India. SIMGM is currently working among a people-group known as the “Dalit” living in the city of Rajahmundry and the surrounding remote villages. The Dalit people have been a historically outcast group, with little opportunities for advancement in society through education or business.

Previously referred to as the “Untouchables”, the word “Dalit” comes from the Marathi language, and means “ground”, “suppressed”, “crushed”, or “broken to pieces”. Believing that “the Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalms 34:18), SIMGM provides hope to the “untouchable” Dalit people.

In 2005 SI started a one-year sewing training program among the Dalit women. This program empowers Dalit women by teaching them about God’s plan and purpose for their life and by giving them a marketable skill. At the end of the program, each SI donates a sewing machine to each student. As a result of this program, the Dalit women are now putting their hope in Christ and using their new skills to support their families and their churches by running small sewing businesses in their villages. These women are encouraged to share the gospel in their respective villages.

SI also provides support and encouragement to Indian pastors working in remote villages as funds become available. SI equips these pastors to share the good news and make disciples of the Jesus Christ within their communities and the surrounding areas. Brutal persecution is a reality for these disciples as they minister to the most unreachable and isolated villages and communities. Still, many enthusiastic young Indian men and women continue to call upon SIMGM to train them to spread the Gospel.

We request you to consider supporting an Indian pastor at $100/month.
