The Deacon’s Fund Provides Emergency Relief

The Share International leadership team went to 2 villages; Nakwaperit and Lokitila, where families were reportedly starving and there are many orphans.  The team was able to help 36 households with an average of 7 people in each family.  Share’s primary goal is to spread the Gospel, but as the Bible says in James 2:15-16, If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs, what good is it?  So also faith, if it does not have works, it is dead being by itself.”

Providing food in famine and drought stricken areas of Turkanaland is part of bringing God’s word to the people.

This woman praises God that he has not forgotten her “in such a situation in life” and asks the Lord to go ahead of the people who came to rescue her.  She said, “Whoever did this, may the living God sustain and bless him abundantly”.

The orphans of the village were also given food and water.

Families in Turkanaland

Families in Turkanaland often include the orphaned children of a sibling or other relatives.  The generosity of the Turkana people is outstanding in the face of the difficulties they face. imageThis is Share’s Children’s Ministry Leader, with a young girl and her younger sister’s orphaned children.  The Deacon’s Fund supplies food and water to families who are desperately in need of emergency assistance.

Building Christ’s Kingdom Through Training and Sending

Share International built a training center in Lodwar that opened in 2014.  It is the central training facility for teaching missionary trainees, Bible Pathways students, Sunday School teachers, and a place for many of the ministry team leaders to conduct their training programs.  Share now needs a Resource Center for these training programs.  This resource center will be a source for books, training materials, videos, and teaching aids for all of Share’s indigenous missionaries, pastors, Bible Pathways students, Sunday School teachers, Adult Literacy trainers, evangelism teams, and the Lodwar staff.

The cost of this new resource center will be approximately $35,000.  We are trusting God to provide the funding for this addition to the training center, but are also asking for the prayers and support of all of God’s people.  Please consider helping with this project with a donation.

Share’s Missionary Trainees

Share International has 60 trained missionaries spread across Turkanaland and has a class of 40 missionary trainees who will graduate in July 2017.  When they graduate, they will be sent out to plant new churches in the unreached villages in Turkanaland.  A new class of 40 missionary trainees will begin 18 months of training in August of 2017.

The cost for each missionary trainee is $180 per month or $2,160 per year.  If God is calling you to do more to reach out to people who have never heard the Gospel and have no opportunity join the kingdom of believers, please consider sponsoring one of the trainees for the August 2017 class.
